Tell us about your team!
How big is it?
5 people directly report to me:
- Content & Social media specialist - Graphic designer - Marketing Automation manager - Demand gen manager - SDR manager
Where are your teammates located?
Barcelona Spain, but working remotely for the past 1.5 years.
What does your team do? What are you responsible for?
My team is responsible for the entire new pipeline generation - inbound & outbound. We create engaging content & run inbound marketing campaigns for our targeted list of Enterprise accounts globally.
What are the components of a strong remote culture?
Transparency: Always be clear on the expectations and share information with the team.
Communication: Make sure you understand the preferred communication channels of each of your team members (as everyone has a different style). Helps with avoiding conflict & miscommunications.
Being Human: Understanding that everyone is human, we all have good days, bad days and empathy is important, especially in these uncertain times.
Strong remote cultures are built on strong connections. Strong connections are built with Hailey.
How do you make sure your team is happy and engaged in their work?
Weekly team meetings, weekly 1-2-1 meetings where we discuss how they are doing if they need any support from my side. We try to meet once a week/month at the office (as long as it’s safe to do so), also have some informal chats online to bond as a team.
Make sure you understand the preferred communication channels of each of your team members, as everyone has a different style. This helps with avoiding conflict & miscommunication.
What's your biggest challenge as a remote leader?
Onboarding new team members and transferring the company culture in a remote world.
My Remote Manager Toolbox
Team-building Activities
Virtual happy hours, in-person sales retreat, game nights.
Remote Games
During the pandemic we were using the House party app. Lately, not really.
Icebreakers
Not really, I would just start the meeting asking them about their day/weekend or another interesting thing that I know had happened to them.
Products & Tools
No, but I would love to implement some.
Resources for remote leaders
Dave Gerhard’s marketing page is a source of great inspiration to me as a marketing leader. I feel like he is the Don Draper of the B2B SaaS marketing.
